One of my favorite things about being a Colorado Springs maternity photographer is how many options I have for gorgeous, natural backdrops for my photoshoots. I absolutely love the scenery here and was so excited to share one of my favorite spots with this wonderful couple.
These soon-to-be parents contacted me for maternity and newborn photos a couple of months ago. They told me they were new to the area, and they really wanted a background that was representative of Colorado scenery. I knew the perfect place for maternity photos: High Point Overlook in Garden of the Gods!
Garden of the Gods is one of my favorite places to shoot, but I admit, I sometimes get a little nervous about the weather at this location. Its rugged beauty also means that it’s very exposed to the elements, but we got lucky. While it was a little breezy, it was also gorgeous weather—especially for February! Love when the weather cooperates in the wintertime.
I do warn clients that doing photos at High Point Overlook can get a little crowded on nice days. This just means we might have periods of standing around while we wait for a specific spot to open up. But honestly, I consider this an opportunity to drink in the wonderful scenery! (And don’t worry, we don’t have to wait for a totally clear shot. It’s pretty easy for me to edit out people in the background of photos.)
I’m so glad I was able to be the Garden of the Gods photographer for this sweet couple! They were so natural in front of the camera and I love these quintessentially Colorado maternity photos at High Point Overlook. You really can’t get backgrounds like this anywhere except our beautiful state. Can’t wait to meet their son when he makes his arrival in April!
