The 3 Absolute Best Places for Summer Family Photos in Colorado Springs

As a family photographer, I am always on the lookout for the perfect photo spot. And I’ve done a lot of exploring in this beautiful area so that when it comes time for summer family photos in Colorado Springs, you don’t have to wonder where the best places are. All you have to do is ask!

Here are my 3 favorite locations for beautiful family photos in Colorado Springs

1. Bear Creek Park

This park, located near Cheyenne Canyon, is one of my top picks because it truly has something for everyone. With wonderful mountain views, trees, bridges, and open fields, you can find the perfect backdrop for your summer family photos right here, no matter what you’re looking for. You really can’t go wrong with either side of Bear Creek Park, but the east side is my personal favorite. However, if you are doing your photos a little earlier, be sure to hit up the west side, near the dog park. It has gorgeous flowering trees in the spring that make for the prettiest background of blossoms.

2. Ute Valley Park

This spot has been a favorite of mine since I first started doing family photography seven years ago. It is so bright and sunny, with mountain views, a bridge, and plenty of trees. And it is truly at its best in summer, when the tall, cheerful sunflowers are in full swing. (Those sunflowers make it a popular spot when I offer mini sessions here.) As a photographer, there isn’t much more I could ask for in a location for summer family photos in Colorado Springs.

3. Rock Ledge Ranch

This location does require a photographer’s permit in order to shoot here, but it’s totally worth it for access to this private, well-kept historical property. Here we get large open fields, beautiful flowers and trees, and a picturesque white barn. Not to mention views of another of Colorado Springs most popular photoshoot locations: Garden of the Gods. Rock Ledge Ranch is gorgeous in all seasons, but in the spring and summer it really is second to none.
