Each year, I plan an entire weekend dedicated to fall family mini sessions. This is one of my busiest weekends of the year, as I typically photograph about ten families (five in a row on each day). As busy as it is, I LOVE doing these annual Colorado Springs mini sessions! You can’t beat the beautiful fall weather in Colorado, and it is so much fun to spend time with these wonderful families. For 2023, I held my fall mini sessions in Woodland Park.
Woodland Park
I try to plan for a different location ever year, since I have several families for whom these photoshoots have become an annual tradition, and I like to provide them with some variety in the scenery. Fortunately, here in Colorado, I am spoiled for choice! Woodland Park is about 45 minutes from Colorado Springs, where my photography studio is located. And it’s totally worth the drive!
Mini Sessions in the Aspen Grove
I didn’t want to have to drive back and forth multiple times over the weekend, so I rented out an Airbnb that I could use as my home base. Was my choice influenced by the fact that it had a gorgeous Aspen tree grove in the front yard, perfect for taking pictures? Yes, yes it was. It made for the prettiest fall scenery!
Timing is Everything!
The first weekend of October ended up being the perfect time to hold these fall mini sessions in the Colorado Springs area. Timing is always tricky with those changing leaves and fall weather, and I don’t think those gorgeous golden leaves would have lasted through the next week.
Woodland Park Family Photographer
Although most of my work now focuses on babies, it was so much fun to spend one of the most gorgeous weekends of the year as a Colorado mini session photographer. I love helping my clients capture these memories and update their family pictures on an annual basis, and I truly don’t think we could have picked a better time or location. I’m already looking forward to next year!
Until then, here are some of my favorite photos taken during my 2023 fall family mini sessions in Woodland Park. Enjoy!
