Lights…
Isn’t this baby boy such a cutie? We did his newborn photography session in a natural light studio in Colorado Springs. This is where I conduct the majority of my newborn sessions (although I also offer at-home newborn photography, so if you want to capture those memories in the comfort of your own home we can absolutely arrange that). Natural light is my favorite to shoot in. Although it’s possible to set up great studio lighting, there’s just something soft and magical about natural light.
Colors…
The light in the studio was perfect, and combined with the colors the family chose to wear, the photos turned out phenomenal! They decided on neutral colors, and the balance between light shades like white, and darker blues and gray was lovely. We also used some olive green to give our baby-only pictures a bit of color. (Green is one of my favorites. It’s perfect for both boys and girls and goes so well with just about every color scheme!)
Action!
One of the reasons it’s important to do newborn photography early is that babies are still usually sleepy and easy to pose at that stage. Not always though! This little man was very interested in what was going on and stayed awake for most of the session. However, I’ve found that if I keep babies wrapped and comfortable (almost all newborns love swaddles) the session still goes really smoothly. He did an amazing job and even gave us lots of smiles throughout! In fact, he was so sweet and calm that it only took about an hour to get all the great shots we’d been hoping for.
I’m kind of obsessed with this little love! Hope you enjoy his photos!
