We were blessed with wonderful November weather for this winter family photoshoot at Fox Run Park! This is one of my favorite locations in Colorado Springs for capturing outdoor portraits during the colder months. Not only is it absolutely beautiful here, but at this particular spot in the Black Forest, the tall trees provide a wind-break as well. So nice for making family photos feel a bit less chilly!
It was great seeing this gorgeous family again. I did a newborn session for their baby girl, so I was excited to be their family photographer again. It’s always crazy to see how fast babies grow, but it’s also one of the best parts of my job! Every stage of babyhood, childhood, and family life is so precious! I love when clients come back to me year after year so they can capture every one of those important milestones.
I always recommend dressing in layers for a winter family photoshoot, but like I said, we really had gorgeous weather for this session, so we didn’t have to layer up too much. Their outfits coordinated perfectly with the rustic winter theme at sunset. (That’s another secret to great outdoor family photos–timing! As a natural light photographer, I love to schedule sessions near sunrise or sunset, depending on the season, so we can have the best lighting possible for your portraits!)
Just because it’s getting chilly here in Colorado Springs doesn’t mean you can’t still get beautiful family photos! Whether we meet at Fox Run Park or another favorite outdoor spot, all it takes is a little preparation to ensure a great session and beautiful pictures for your Christmas cards, yearly album, or gifts. I’m totally game to grab my equipment and get all bundled up for an amazing outdoor photo experience, so get in touch and let’s go!
