I am so excited for Christmas minis coming up in just a couple of months! If you’ve already booked with me, you might be wondering what to wear to your Christmas mini session. Here are some tips to get you started, plus a few moodboards with outfit inspiration to get the ideas flowing!
Outfit Tips and Inspo for Outdoor Christmas Photos
Bundle Up
These Christmas mini sessions will take place in November, and here in Colorado Springs, there will certainly be a chill in the air! Particularly if you have younger kiddos, plan outfits that will go well with boots or a casual winter coat. Staying warm is one of the keys to a successful and enjoyable photoshoot!
Accessorize
Your accessories can also keep you toasty while doing double duty as a way to add a fun and festive touch to your photos. Things like plaid scarves, boot socks, winter hats, mittens, and even earmuffs can add a lot of character and make your photos feel more Christmasy. Plus, kids look extra cute in all those winter accessories!
Use Darker Colors
Usually my recommendation is to choose light, neutral colors for your outfits. But Christmas photos are an exception! Navy blue, maroon, darker tan, and even black can really dress up your shoot. Also, even though bright red is a very festive color, it’s best to avoid too much of it, as it can affect skin tones and be a little distracting. (This is especially applicable if you’re scheduled for the event on November 16th in Black Forest, as we will have a red truck and we don’t want too much red in your outfit to clash with our main prop!)
