What a gorgeous sunset maternity session in Colorado Springs with this beautiful family!
This glowing mama-to-be wanted to capture some intimate maternity moments, some solo, and some with her husband and son. I always think it’s so fun to include the whole family in this type of special portrait experience!

Scenic Maternity Session in Colorado
We knew we wanted natural light maternity photography in the great outdoors rather than in a studio setting, so together we settled on Rock Ledge Ranch as our photo spot. It’s a beautiful private location not far from Garden of the Gods, and while there is a $50 permit fee to use the property for portraits, it’s totally worth it for the unique background and amazing lighting. Not to mention, no dealing with the crowds!

There are so many places for outdoor portraits in this area, so if you need ideas just let me know! Colorado has everything from mountain scenery to lakes, and from forests to meadows, so whatever you’re looking for, chances are we can find it!

One thing to keep in mind about an outdoor maternity session in Colorado Springs, especially in the springtime, is that it tends to be windy. For some sessions and locations this can be a hindrance, but it can also add some beautiful character to portraits. That was definitely the case here! I loved the movement that the wind created in this gorgeous mama’s dress and hair.

Since this family booked a classic session with me, mom opted for a couple of outfit changes. I loved getting creative with them! The white flowy dress was so pretty, and her natural two-piece outfit choice was perfect as well, giving us some contrast and a bit of a bohemian feel.
