I loved photographing this family during their vacation to Colorado Springs. (They are from Kansas City, Missouri.) They knew what this beautiful city has to offer for scenic backdrops and decided they wanted to take advantage of their vacation to get some updated family photos. Garden of the Gods Family Photos
Garden of the Gods is one of the most popular places for family photos, and you really can’t go wrong anywhere in the park. It’s all beautiful! I do have my favorite spots though, one of which is High Point Overlook. (Here are some others that are perfect for summer!) This location is so versatile, allowing me to capture portraits with backgrounds of majestic mountains, Colorado’s unique red rock formations, or a little bit of both!
Vacations tend to be pretty busy with sightseeing and recreation, so there’s not always a lot of wiggle room to reschedule for weather. We were a little worried with this particular session because it was mostly cloudy and looked like it might start pouring any second!
We braved it though, and it totally paid off! The sunlight came slanting through the clouds at just the right angle and the overcast skies also helped to even out the lighting so it wasn’t too harsh. And although we did get some rain, the heavens were kind. It didn’t start until we were back at our cars. Phew!
I really am thrilled with how this session went and love how our photos turned out. What a fun reminder of their vacation and a beautiful way to document this stage of their life.
