Anyone else think that snowy family photos are the best? I absolutely love capturing beautiful memories in a wintry landscape, but there’s no question that getting those amazing snowy pictures comes with some challenges too. Not least of which is that snow doesn’t always fall on demand!

That’s one reason that I’ve started doing something new recently: Offering promotions when it snows! I feel like this makes sense because snow is only fresh for a few days following a storm, so unless you’re willing to travel to a ski resort, a snow session is often last-minute.
These types of winter wonderland shots are a great way to switch up your family photo artwork and capture those Colorado winter vibes. This family chose great colors and brought along their adorable pup as well. Dogs are always welcome at my family photography sessions in Colorado Springs! Just be sure to let me know in advance if any furry family members will be joining us. I’ll just want to make sure that our chosen location allows dogs. (Fortunately most of them do!)

These Colorado family photos in the snow were taken three days after a massive snowstorm that dumped over a foot of snow in Colorado Springs (and even more in some areas)! This family still needed some Christmas card photos and took advantage of the snow-day promo to get the perfect pictures. It was definitely an adventure: The parking lot was barely navigable due to snow buildup and mud, but we did it, and the photos were totally worth it!
