I was thrilled to do these sunset maternity and family photos for a dear friend and fellow photographer, Kira Goff. She is pregnant with a little girl and I am so excited for her! It’s been so fun watching their family grow as our friendship has blossomed over the years. (Check out a past fall family photo session with Kira and her family here.)
Blodgett Peak Open Space Photos
We really wanted a sunset maternity session with mountains, so we decided on Blodgett Peak Open Space for our location. This spot (on the west side of Colorado Springs) is one of my favorite places to photograph families because it gives that mountain feel while still being really close to residential areas and the city. Parking is close and convenient (super important when you have littles) and the lighting is gorgeous at sunset!
Maternity Photos with Kiddos
Kira and Preston’s cute son is three years old, and with kids that age you have to be prepared to go with the flow! He did amazing for the first half of the photoshoot, but then got a little tired of it and was ready for a snack and a break. Who can blame him though?! I still got some precious images towards the end with him looking as cute as ever, even if we couldn’t coax a smile out of him anymore. (The pics of him snuggling with his dad are just the sweetest!)
While my goal is always to help kiddos have a great time and capture them showing their happiest selves, you can’t force it. And the good news is that the photos are just as sweet even if they’re a little cranky and just want some snuggles with mom and dad. I love every single one of these photos so much and know that these images will be treasures for this family for years to come!
