Colorado is so gorgeous in the springtime—and honestly, all the time! As we move into better weather and more opportunities for outdoor photos, I thought I should share an updated list of my favorite 2025 Colorado Springs photography locations. I know I’ve shared some of my top spots before, but I’m always discovering (or rediscovering) more beautiful places for portraits!
1. Blodgett Peak Open Space
This is my top photography location for portraits in Colorado Springs. It offers plenty of variety, has amazing golden hour light, and makes you feel like you’re doing a session in the mountains. It is central to most everything in Colorado Springs, and has convenient nearby parking.
One thing to consider is that there is a short distance of uphill walking, but we can take breaks and take it slow if that’s a concern!
It looks amazing in every season, which is a huge reason this is one of my favorite locations. (I just did a beautiful maternity session here. Be sure to take a peek!)
2. Ute Valley Park
This spot has been a favorite for YEARS! I’ve used it for so many sessions since I started photographing families 7 years ago. Compared with Blodgett, Ute Valley Park has more open field with mountains in the background, tall grasses, rolling hills, and lots of different scenic attributes like fences and wooden walkways.
This location is amazing for extended family sessions, and has close, easy parking requiring hardly any walking (unless we go up the very short path to get certain views). Whether you’re looking for a children’s milestone session, extended family session, or basic family photos, this location checks so many boxes! Check out these summer vacation photos at Ute Valley Park!
3. Garden of the Gods
No list of Colorado Springs photography locations would be complete without this one! A stunning backdrop, Garden of the Gods is a favorite for many families wanting those epic Colorado mountain views.
The parking is close and requires hardly any walking for the general view. However, it can be crowded during golden hour, especially in the peak months of summer and fall. I like to climb up the rocks just a little bit to get above the crowds and capture a more unique view.
If you like an epic mountain backdrop, this is a wonderful location! Just keep in mind it won’t necessarily be a very private photoshoot experience due to crowds! Check out this post for a few of my favorite spots to take photos within Garden of the Gods state park.
4. Black Forest
This spot is a favorite for its consistent, beautifully filtered lighting. If having a mountain backdrop isn’t the most important thing for you, I would highly recommend this park. The tall trees complement any family photos, and it looks great year-round, so it really doesn’t matter when you go! Check out these snowy family photos in Black Forest!
If none of these fit the bill, I’m happy to recommend other locations that will work for your session. The great thing about Colorado is there are SO many! Get in touch and let’s start planning the perfect place and time to capture your memories!
