We captured these lovely maternity photos at Garden of the Gods in February—and I have to admit, I was a little worried about the weather!
Outdoor maternity photos in Colorado are absolutely gorgeous, but in the winter there’s always a risk that the weather won’t cooperate. I was so pleased that on the day we had scheduled it was almost 60 degrees with NO WIND! Just amazing! We got so lucky. From these photos you really would think it was spring.
Sunset at Garden of the Gods never disappoints. I like to start shortly before sunset so that we get a good mixture of sunny photos as well as some during and/or right after sunset. It makes for two very different looks that are equally stunning. I always try to incorporate as much variety into my photoshoots as I can, because it’s so fun to have a few different looks that you can use in artwork, albums, or as gifts.
While there are lots of beautiful places to choose from here, High Point Overlook is an iconic spot within the Garden, with its red rock formations and perfect view of Pikes Peak. It’s definitely my favorite spot for a maternity session!
Mom chose the prettiest gown for her pregnancy photoshoot. These beautiful long dresses are sold by PinkBlush Maternity, which sells all kinds of pregnancy clothing, but as a Colorado Spring maternity photographer I particularly love their dresses for photo sessions. This specific one comes in a variety of colors and has a longer train that makes for such elegant portraits. The deep purple was a beautiful choice for her skin tone and looked so great in contrast with the red rocks too.
I loved doing these maternity photos at Garden of the Gods for this sweet couple and am so excited to meet their little one!
If you’re interested in a Colorado portrait session, I hope you’ll be in touch. I specialize in newborn, maternity, and family portraiture and would love to help you document life’s special moments.
