What a special experience to do this lifestyle newborn photography session in Colorado Springs for this wonderful family! I’ve known Mom and Dad for years, and was so excited to photograph them with their first baby.
Newborn Photos at Home
Lifestyle newborn photography is extra special because it happens in the comfort of your own home. It’s a precious, intimate experience that I love being part of! Being able to capture memories with families in their own space is definitely a favorite of mine. And if you love natural light newborn photography it will probably be a favorite of yours, too!
This baby boy’s nursery was beautiful. I loved the mountain theme! His nursery also had a window that provided some great natural light for our newborn session.
Lifestyle and Posed Newborn Photography
During my lifestyle newborn photography sessions I like to do a mixture of lifestyle and posed images. Wondering what the difference is?
Lifestyle images usually focus on capturing natural moments with you and your new little one. Photos where you’re snuggling your baby or where little one is asleep in his crib would be defined as lifestyle.
Posed images require lots of skill and training on the part of the photographer, as we want to make sure baby is safe and comfortable while we position them in ways that are cute and artistic. I like to include some posed photos in my lifestyle sessions because they’re such a perfect way to capture all the little details of your newborn! I generally pose baby close to a window so we can really highlight their sweet face, tiny fingers, and dimples.
This little sweetheart slept almost the entire time, making my job easy! I had such a hard time choosing my favorites from this lifestyle newborn photography session in Colorado Springs–they were all sooo good!
