This sweet family contacted me about getting updated photos for their growing family, and I was delighted to help! Regularly updating your family photos is important at every stage, but I feel like it’s particularly crucial when kids are little. They just grow and change so much and so fast. If you blink you might miss it!

Deciding to do these family photos at Garden of the Gods in the summertime was a solid choice! This is one of my favorite Colorado Springs photography locations, and offers so many spots for scenic portraits.

If you’re down for a short (about a quarter mile) hike from the parking area, this little gem where we captured these summer family photos is a special favorite of mine! Garden of the Gods tends to be a busy place, especially in peak season, but this area is awesome because we get to skip the crowds. The most I usually see around here is an occasional biker or hiker passing by.

In addition, the sun goes behind the rocks in the early evening at this location, making it a great choice if your littles have early bedtimes. We can capture those beautiful sunset shots and still have everyone in bed on time!
While this spot is still beautiful in the winter, I think it’s at its best in summer and fall when the grass is still colorful and the trees have their leaves.

We brought a blanket for some seated shots, and the trail also provides so many great photo opportunities, so we didn’t have to worry about trekking through the itchy grass. While older kids often handle this just fine, sometimes little ones are extra sensitive, so sticking to the trail and/or bringing a blanket like we did can be a smart way to go
Loved being the Garden of the Gods family photographer for this sweet group! We had so much fun together!
