Wanted to feature a senior session so people can see that there is so much more to them than just studio headshots for the yearbook. Senior Photoshoot in Garden of the Gods
For this photoshoot, Ember and her mom and I hiked up Ute Trail. Aren’t these the most fantastic views? Ember had wanted to incorporate Garden of the Gods because that’s also where I took her sister’s senior photos just a few years ago. You really can’t beat this scenery (for more great photo op locations in Garden of the Gods, see my previous post) and I love the idea of linking sibling sessions by using the same locale.
Despite the similar backdrop, we also made sure to make Ember’s high school senior photos special and unique to her. As a Colorado Springs senior photographer, one of the things I love to focus on with these sessions is highlighting your personalities and interests. The teen years are a time of self-discovery, and graduation marks a whole new season of life.
I love the whimsical, natural style of these senior pictures. In addition to a cute casual outfit, Ember also brought along an adorable sundress so we could get some variety and work with different looks.
Wondering what to wear? I always encourage seniors to pick outfits that are comfortable (wear what you love!) and that display your personality or hobbies. You’re not locked into one outfit either. I say wear one outfit and then bring one or two additional changes of clothing. After all, you’re a complex, multifaceted person–and each outfit expresses just a small part of who you are.
